In honor of our trip, I thought I'd share with you all some cold weather accessories I've been coveting lately. I've posted some of these to Tumblr and Pinterest (where I keep track of all the beautiful items I find on the internet), so for those of you who follow me there, you may see some familiar items.

Cold Weather Lovelies
Mr. CP and I are heading to the beautiful Rockies tomorrow! Hooray! I'll try not to disappear completely while I'm on my trip, and I promise I'll come back with lots of photos to share with you.

I Got Mail from CatRabbit!
It's no secret that I love whimsical things. Hopefully it's also no secret that I don't take myself too seriously. Believing as I do that a person's individual style should be a reflection of who they are, none of my outfits ever feel complete without something silly, and offbeat. Typically I just stick with accessories -- necklaces, bracelets, and especially brooches -- because it's difficult to find the sorts of prints that I love in larger sizes.
My penchant for such accessories led me to CatRabbit. While browsing her Etsy store, I found myself particularly enchanted by a pair of hair combs in her sold items. Elegant and silly all at the same time, they featured an adorable fancy bunny engraving that I just knew I had to have. So, I promptly emailed CatRabbit, and asked whether she might consider making me a sweater clip/brooch that included the fancy bunny design. I left the other portion of the clip up to her. Much to my delight, she suggested a fancy sloth to accompany the fancy bunny. It took only three weeks from the time we started emailing for me to receive my order -- and that coming all the way from Australia!
If you're in the market for unique sweater clips and/or brooches, you should definitely pay CatRabbit a visit! She was absolutely wonderful to communicate with, and got the clip to me surprisingly quickly! If you're reading this, thanks a bunch Cat!
On a different note, my ankle is healing up quite nicely due in large part to Mr. CP's insistence that I stay off it as much as possible. Ever my knight-in-shining-armor, Mr. CP has been bringing me food and beverages, running my errands, and even doing a load of laundry. Standing (or, in this case, hobbling) in direct contrast to Mr. CP's general wonderfulness is, well, me. I'm an awful patient. The worst, in fact. I feel terrible that he's been forced to do so many things for me, and continually insist on fetching my own drinks and pacing through the house restlessly... you know, to, um, stretch out my ankle. It's feeling more or less better now, though, so expect some OOTD posts coming your way.
Now I just need to find something for Mr. CP that says, "Thank you for taking such wonderful care of me," and "I'm sorry for being such a pain in the ass" all at the same time. Any ideas? Oh, and it would be best if it doesn't involve cooking, because I did NOT almost burn down my old apartment when I tried to cook dinner, and I definitely DO know how to cook really, really well.
And yes, you are most certainly sensing sarcasm there.

September Wish List
There are so many things I could include on this list. I have, however, managed to restrict myself to the following items. While most of them won't be mine for quite some time, I'll probably try pick up a couple of the pieces this month.
On a completely unrelated note, I'm going to be heading to Charlotte, North Carolina at the beginning of October for a wedding! I had been planning on wearing something suitably Autumnal -- lots of rich browns, and warm oranges and yellows, until I received a bit of surprising news. Apparently the wedding is going to involve copious amounts of black, accents of red, and... well, coffins. This will be a first for me. I can't say I ever thought I'd be going to a wedding like this. I'm actually quite excited to go, though, as I love unique weddings! At any rate, I think that means mustard is out...
And she has a lot of other fabrics you can choose from, too! Gotta love Etsy!
Best part about these skirts: the little animals are brooches, so you can keep them on the skirt or wear them on a cardigan! I personally love the brown skirt with the bunny pin, but I think they are all marvelously whimsical.
I love my thrifted gray circle skirt so much that I've been longing for an identical one in black. This looks like it would fit the bill, and a custom made skirt for $30 certainly won't break the bank.
At some point, I apparently decided that I needed a tank top in every single color under the sun. Lavender? Check. Olive green? Got it. Every shade of brown you ever have or ever will see? Covered. But in terms of patterned floral tops, I have... one. Maybe. Somewhere. So this would actually be really useful for me to pick up. On a side note, is it just me or have Old Navy's prices gone way up?
These shall be mine!
Sometimes I think Banana Republic exists only to taunt me. Their prices preclude me from purchasing more than a few basic things, which is why this blazer will remain on my wish list for the long haul. Speaking of which, have you all seen the new Mad Men Collection? Beautiful! But it runs waaaay too small to accommodate the Ladies. Which is probably for the best, actually, since I would buy everything in the collection (both for myself and Mr. CP), and we would end up eating cat food and refried beans for the rest of the month. Year. Decade.

Etsy Loves: Brooches
It hasn't been too long since my last post, but I'm still feeling as though I've been neglecting my poor, sweet blog. I initially promised myself I would post every day, but that's proving to be a bit ambitious. Things have been crazy around here recently. I decided at the beginning of the summer that it was a wise idea to take a Political Science course for fun. I know. Brilliant idea, right? At this point, you're either a) laughing mockingly at me, b) scowling derisively at your computer screen trying to figure out why the hell I ever thought that was a good idea, c) frantically trying to navigate away from my blog for fear that my crazy is somehow technologically contagious, or d) doing some awkward combination of the three. Like you, I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea. I mean, God/Odin/Thor/Flying Spaghetti Monster knows I've spent more than my fair share of time in a classroom setting, but this is just one of those many, many ideas that I'll file away under "It seemed like a good idea at the time." In any case, I'm in the midst of "studying" for my final exam, by which I mean I've been browsing Etsy. I composed a list of wonderful whimsies for you to admire. Behold my most recent obsession: brooches!
I've also ordered a few suitably ridiculous, masculine brooches for Mr. CP to wear on his pea coats, vests, cardigans, and other assorted clothing items once Fall rolls around. I may or may not have also picked up and/or ordered a couple for myself as well, though one of them is a vintage piece that I can't seem to get a decent shot of, and another is a custom order I've placed with Catrabbit that is still in the development stages. I'll be sure to post an OOTD pic with the vintage brooch soon, and another with the Catrabbit brooch just as soon as it arrives. As for Mr. CP's brooches, you can see the ones I chose below! I'm planning a special DIY surprise brooch for him at some point, too, so I may well post a tutorial for that.
